About Me
Ellen Ericson is a working artist and designer who works primarily with oil paints, making large scale non-traditional portraiture. She graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2019, receiving two degrees from two distinguished colleges within the University: ‘Interdisciplinary Art & Design’, and ‘Entertainment & Media Studies’. Born and raised in the heart of Atlanta, Ellen found her creative inspiration all over the city while growing up. She has been painting, photographing, drawing and creating since she was a young girl. While in school, she attended the Cortona Study Abroad program in Italy, studying art history at iconic museums and landmarks all over the country and taking painting classes at the local campus. At the end of her academic career in Athens, she co-curated the Senior Exhibition gallery show at the Lamar Dodd School of Art and sold her two largest paintings the day of the opening ceremony.
Over the course of her time at UGA, Ellen developed a talent for set design and advanced photography. All of her original paintings required extensive photoshoots that she designed, dressed, photographed herself. She also studied and become skilled in Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Adobe Premiere.
In addition to her fine arts career, Ellen has worked for several production, digital media and marketing companies in Atlanta, including Crazy Legs Productions and Turner Broadcasting. Most recently she worked at the Coca-Cola Company and for the Atlanta Hawks NBA basketball team.
Ellen was also recently accepted to the Painting & Drawing M.F.A. program at the Pratt Institute in New York City. She begins her graduate degree this fall, joining a highly competitive and talented cohort of emerging artists. As an M.F.A. Candidate, her studies will emphasize rigorous studio practice, professional development, and critical inquiry.
While pursuing her graduate degree, Ellen continues to manage E3 Art Productions, a successful business through which she sells original and commissioned paintings, drawings, digital designs, and photography.
